THE WOMEN MINISTRY
INTRODUCTION
Despite the fact that Paul asked women to keep silent in the church according to 1 Corinthians 14 that says:
“The women should keep quite in the church meetings. They are not allowed to speak; as the Jewish law says, they must not be in charge.” G.N.B Bible
It became apparent that women are not to be useless in the work of the ministry. If we look at our Bible very well, we will notice that there are notable women who did exploits for the Lord, those whom we will study later as we continue in this teaching.
There are many ministries in which a woman can be involved. Even several women have been involved in the work of the ministry by one way or the other. But the first ministry I saw God giving to a woman is the Ministry of Help.
God said ‘it isn’t good for man to be alone; I will make a companion for him, a helper suited to his needs’. Gen 2:18 S.L.B.
According to the passage, every woman should realise that she is a helper to her husband, therefore, a woman has no separate ministry on her own except the ministry of her husband, except on few occasions.
DEFINITION
Since we know that a woman is a helper to her husband, we will rather look at the definition of this study from HOME than looking at it from the offices of the ministry.
THE HOME
It is difficult to define the word ‘home’ for it is much more than a place. A beautiful house might not be a home, while a very poor dwelling can be made into a beautiful home. As Webster says, “the home is the abiding place of the affection.”
What makes the difference between a house and home?
The parents, their attitudes, opinions, moral standards, actions, characters and personalities in general.
A Christian home consists of a God fearing father, God fearing mother and God fearing children. A Christian home is an institution where parents are bound together by Christian love; where children are welcome and scripturally instructed, and the Lord Jesus is not only the supposed head of the home but the actual Head, where parents and children gather daily for family worship.
“Every wise woman builds her house. But the foolish pulls down with her hands.” Proverbs 14:1
In this verse, it is clearly written the importance of virtuous woman in a home. We are not just talking of ordinary woman but a woman that is after God’s heart. It does not speak of every woman but says, “Every wise woman”. Before one can build, there must be a strong foundation, which means the foundation of the woman in the home must be Jesus Christ. The woman in the home must be born again not only born again but spirit filled Christian. Having a strong foundation that cannot be blown off by anything. Romans 8:37-39.
THE DUTIES OF A WOMAN IN THE HOME
1.            SHE MUST BE TRUSTWORTHY AND RELIABLE TO HER HUSBAND Vs 11: firstly, it is the duty of the woman to live with her husband all the days of her life just as it is the binding duty of her husband to live with her. Roman 7:2 reads, “For the woman which hath a husband is bound by law to her husband so long as it lived, but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.” 1 cor. 7:10 reads: “and unto the married I command yet not I, but the Lord, let not the wife depart from her husband.”
2.            SHE MUST BE A HELPER TO HER HUSBAND Vs 12: It is the duty of a good woman to do her husband good and not evil all the days of her life. The woman should not be antagonist to her husband rather she should live peacefully with him seeking only his comfort and protecting his interest all the days of her life
3.            SHE MUST BE A CHANNEL OF BLESSING TO HER FAMILY Vs 14: It is the duty of a woman to prepare good food for her family. What kind of a cook are you? Are you the type who burns the food often or adds too much salt or pepper to the soup so that the family complains of your cooking?
4.            SHE MUST BE A WOMAN OF THE WORD Vs 15: It is important for a woman to have the word of God in her life, to teach and to live in it and it is her duty to wake up early in the morning to make sure that her family do their family Alter
5.            SHE DOES NOTHING WITHOUT THE KNOWLEDGE OF HER HUSBAND Vs 16: It is also good for a woman to make sure that she must not do anything in secret to her husband, she must take permission first from her husband
6.            SHE TAKES SPIRITUAL RESPONSIBILITIES VERY IMPORTANT Vs 17: A good woman must not be slack spiritually, she must make sure that all spiritual responsibilities that are given unto her is well handle and make sure that her relationship with God is a cordial.
7.            SHE MUST BE A PRAYERFUL WOMAN Vs 18: A good woman must be able to talk to God in prayers at all times and her life must be a prayerful one. She must make sure that her antenna is always set out in prayer.
8.            SHE MUST BE A HARDWORKING WOMAN Vs 19: A good woman must be hardworking, she must not be lazy, her hands must always be busy for the work because the woman in the Bible worked willingly with their own hands.
9.            SHE MUST BE A GENEROUS WOMAN Vs 20: She must make sure she gives willingly to everybody her life must be an answer to the cry of those who are in need in terms of money, clothes e.t.c.
10.       SHE MUST BE AVAILABLE AS A COVERING CLOTH TO HER HUSBAND Vs 21: The sexual life must be with understanding, it should not be in an animalistic way. Prayerfully a means of the real enjoyment should be found and the parties should find solution to a happy union.
11.       SHE MAKES HER HUSBAND PRESENTABLE Vs 23: She must be a woman who put her husband into high position and gives her husband honour in the way that he will be presentable outside
12.       SHE MAKES HER POSITION STRONG AND SECURE Vs 25: A good woman must be ready to welcome visitors and in-laws. Her genuine concern should be for their salvation, if they are not yet saved, she should see them as her own people, and a good woman must know how to endure in the home especially in the time of needs.
13.       SHE MUST BE A WOMAN WHO CONTROLS HER TONGUE Vs 26: A good woman must not engaged herself in careless talks, she must know how to talk or give reply to a discussion in the society, among brethren and in their family also. James 3:2-12
14.       SHE MUST BE A WOMAN OF LONG SIGHT Vs 27: A good woman must be a woman of faith, who plans ahead of things.
THE WOMEN WHO BROUGHT REVIVAL INTO THEIR GENERATION
A.      THE OLD TESTAMENT WOMEN AND REVIVAL LABOUR
INTRODUCTION: Whenever we talked about Revival, many people misunderstand it, they thought it is singing and dancing, while some people believed it to be hard sermon. But if you do not understand, do not misunderstand.
Revival is God’s interruption to a system or to a generation. Though it is obvious that God is usually silent about mentioning the name of women in the Bible, but if it looks as if there are some women that heaven cannot be silent about their names simply because of their involvement in the revival labours
Therefore, we are going to consider some women in the Old Testament whom the Lord used to bring, that is, the interruption of God in their days

1.       ZIPPORAH: This is Moses’ wife whom the Lord used to rescue her husband when God was about to kill him because of circumcision. Exodus 4:24-26
2.       DEBORAH: (Judges 4:1-24) This Deborah was a prophetess in her days, but the bible still calls him the wife of Lapidoth which means she was a responsible wife in her husband’s house. (Vs 4)

The second lesson we can learn from this woman as regard revival is that she loved the Lord, because the Bible makes us to understand that “she judges Israel” which means she was a teacher of the word (Vs 4)

The third lesson to learn from this woman is that she did not cover her life because the Bible said she sat under the palm tree, therefore, any woman that brings revival to her generation must live a transparent life (Vs 5)

Lastly, she gave encouragement and supported Barak concerning the revival in the land (vs. 8 & 9)

3.       RUTH: (Ruth 1: 6-3: 18) If we are to look at the records of women in the Old Testament, without mentioning the name of Ruth, the record is incomplete, because of the exploit she did.

The first lesson to learn in the life of Ruth is that she was a woman of long sight, large heart and strong determination (Vs 14-18).
Any woman who will bring revival into her generation must never be of a shallow heart.

Another lesson we can learn from sister Ruth is that she submitted herself under Naomi’s leadership, any woman who will bring revival into this generation must be a correctable, humble and advisable woman (3: 1-5)

4.       QUEEN ESTHER: Esther is another woman we need to learn from, but before we do so, we need to firstly look at the down fall of Vashti and learn some lesson from her. (Esther 1: 1-22)

These are the lessons to learn from Vashti, e.g.
A.    Vashti believed that she has a separate ministry apart from her husband
B.     She forgot that the first ministry that a woman has is her family. She led her husband to polygamy.
C.     King sent to Vashti because she was a presentable woman.
D.    Vashti handled the Eunuchs with the hand of levity, but it is the duties of Pastor’s wife to take care of them.  Matt. 19:12
THE LIFE OF ESTHER
The first lesson to learn in the of Esther is that Esther was kept for a year (12 months) for probationer period, she cannot go out and visit her friend, but she was there for purification, in fact she cannot go and look for her uncle, because God wanted to use her for revival work.
Likewise also the woman that God will use for end time revival or for her husband ministry must pass through the probationer period. (2:12).
The second lesson we can learn from the life of Esther is that she is a woman who was ready to risk her life for her people’s sake, she is a woman that was concern about other people’s problem than himself (4:16).

THE NEW TESTATMENT WOMEN AND REVIVAL LABOUR

As we said earlier on that revival is God’s interruption to a wrong system in a generation. Therefore we shall consider few of the New Testament women who contributed to the progress of the church and the revival work in their generation.

1.  MARY, THE MOTHER OF THE LORD (ST LUKE 1:28 – 38)
Mary, the mother of Jesus has been called the most privileged among women because of the roles she played in the lives of all, throughout the whole world, because she surrendered her life to holy living though she missed many things, but yet she still went head to allow the promise of God to come to pass through her life.
SOME OF THE THINGS MARY MISSED
A.    She missed her engagement ceremony
B.     She missed her wedding ceremony / honeymoon
Because of the revival of the whole world can you miss Engagement and Wedding Ceremony?
2.     MARY MAGDALENE (A woman from Magdala of Galilee) Jn. 20:1 – 18, Matt 28:11 – 15
This woman is another notable woman in the Bible, because of the role she played in bringing the reality of the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because the first news after the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ is a bad one in the sense that the soldiers were bribed to be telling untrue story that Jesus did not resurrect.
Thank God for Sis. Mary who woke up earlier before anybody to visit the sepulchre of our Lord, and not that alone, she brought Peter and John even when those ones left, she was still standing at the sepulchre for a genuine encounter that interrupted the bad news that is going all about.
SOME BAD WOMEN IN THE BIBLE
There are some women in the Bible that we must not imitate because of the bad example they introduced in their days, some of them are even wicked to extend of becoming an instrument that the devil used in killing revival e.g.:
1.     EVE (A woman who brought the downfall of human race) Gen 3:1 -7
2.     PORTIFIAR’S WIFE (A woman of immorality) Gen 39 :7 – 18
3.     DELILAH (Who betrayed Samson) Judges 16: 4 – 19
4.     PENINAH (Who provoked Hannah) I Sam 6
5.     JESSEBEL (A wicked Queen who pushed her husband into wickedness) I Kings 16: 1 – end
6.     ATAHLIAH (Who destroyed all the royal seed) II Kings 11: 1
7.     HERODIA (Who killed John the Baptist) Matt. 14: 1 – 12
In conclusion, women are very important in the work of the ministry, therefore men should know this fact that whosoever knows how to manage his wife would enjoy her also they should realise that women are weaker vessels.
Women also must realise that  they are the salt in the family, and helper in the ministry therefore we must do our best to win God’s approval on our lives and earnestly contend for the faith for by this we will be able to be standing pillars in our husbands’ ministry.
GOD BLESS YOU.
