MY
BOY FRIEND
This is the story
of a family with two kids whom the husband is a judge in one high court, and
the wife is a pure housewife. Do not forget that an idle hand is the devils
workshop.
Ngozi is the wife
of Justice Felix Aliy. She always stays at home, in the course of her staying
at home she started dating a technician who do came to repair their
refrigerator and air-condition.
This woman has been
using this technician to collect unlawful money from her husband. But one day
the whole story change:
Ngozi: You must co-operate, I am the owner
of my husband, and whatever I want that is what you will do.
Technician: Madam, I am tired of telling lie, my
conscience has been disturbing me, even I am no more interested in our
relationship
Ngozi
reply with anger as she was opening her bag to bring out her handset
Ngozi: It
is a lie! It is a lie!! I will deal with you, you wait
and see
Ngozi
used her handset to call her husband and she asks him to call police n order to
come and arrest this technician. Immediately the technician heard that Ngozi is
calling police, he quickly rushed out of their house, he off his sandals and
hold it with his hand as he was running. Suddenly he saw a motorcycle rider
[popularly known as Okada] that was how this technician ran away
The policemen did
not come in time, they came after one hour with their guns and they were
shouting
Policemen: Where is the accused? Bring him out!
We are going to deal with him today.
Ngozi came out with her face frowned and she said
Ngozi: So you are just coming now
after one hour, did you think the accused will be so stupid to be waiting for
police to arrest him?
Police officer: Madam we are sorry, we didn’t know that
those who did night duty has exhausted all the fuel inside the vehicle, so we
need to wait for our S.O to give us money for fuel, that is why we came late,
we are sorry.
Ngozi: Ah! If it is armed robber that
is how you will allow then to kill all of us
That was how Ngozi
shut her door and walked away on the policemen who are begging her outside and
entered her car and drove away.
A week later this
technician came to check on his friend who is leaving very close to Ngozi’s
house but as he is going a mechanic who saw him the day he ran away with Okada beckon on him and started to interrogate him
about last week scenario.
In Ngosi’s house,
there was a young evangelist that has just been transferred from one parish of
their church who needed to stay with them fro few days before moving to the
mission house. As this young evangelist came out with cutlass to take care of
the environment of their house, suddenly he heard mechanic and the technician
discussing something about Ngosi and her husband. The young Evangelist was
listening attentively to all the discussion; he heard when the technician said:
Technician: After all she was my girl friend and I told
her that I am no more interested in the relationship, but she said no, that was
the origin of the problem.
The young
evangelist entered the house and he could not do what he wanted to do
Veronica is the
first daughter of Ngosi and Justice Felix Aliy. Veronica has just come back
from school, and she is trying to do her assignment after her lunch with the
aids of one young boy, but suddenly, the young evangelist open the door on them
and find them playing love instead of the assignment
Evangelist: Jesus Veronica, what is this that you are
doing and by the way who is this boy. The young boy was shivering and his voice
was shaking.
Young boy: S
o r r y sir, I want to help her to redress her cloth
and as she want to go out, she fell on my leg and I was trying to push her away
Evangelist: you are telling lie, I saw you playing love
with her
Veronica: What is it what has he done? Afterall he
is trying to teach me chemistry
Evangelist: Chemistry? What kind of chemistry are you
learning on the bed, is bed your blackboard?
Veronica: No we did not go to the bed together,
moreover, my mum knows him that he is my boyfriend.
Evangelist: Your boy friend at this stage of life. I will
make sure I report you to your dad when he comes.
At this point the
young boy has started packing his book, preparing to go out; so the Evangelist walk out on them
In the evening,
justice Felix Aliy is back from the office, he sat down in the sitting room
reading newspaper, not quite long to that time the Evangelist comes in to greet
Felix
Evangelist: Daddy you are welcome, how is the office
today?
Felix: Thank you man of God, the office is
fine, how is the pregnant prayer meeting?
Did senior pastor come? Or you hold the meeting alone
Evangelist: Thank God for the meeting people really
turned up, the senior pastor came with other two deacons
Felix: That’s fine .thank God.
As they were saying
this Ngozi entered and greeted her husband and Evangelist.
Evangelist told the
story of what happened in the afternoon to Ngozi while her husband was still
sitting down in the sitting room
Evangelist: Madam, a man came after you left in the
morning
Ngozi: To this house?
Evangelist: No ma, I saw them under the tree at the
mechanic workshop. The man with white overall said many things about you and
daddy.
Ngozi: So, what did he say?
Evangelist: I just heard him mentioning your name and
shouting at the top of his voice
Ngosi was waiting
to hear more of what the technician said; but the Evangelist did not say
anything. So Felix now responds
Felix: Is that the boy again?
Ngozi: Yes, is the same man
Felix: But what is he looking for? For
goodness sake. Is it because he was not arrested the other time? Okay, we shall
see what we will do.
That is how Ngozi
enter her room and the Evangelist also went back to his own room.
Before dinner, we
saw Veronica coming to her mother to explain to her about what happened in the
afternoon. Veronica told her mother half truth, half lie; she complained
bitterly about the
Evangelist, Ngozi replied
Ngozi: its okay my daughter; I don’t know
what concerns him about you. I don’t know why he needed to open the door on
you; thank God he did not meet anybody.
Veronica: He did not meet anybody, he only saw a boy
outside the gate who borrowed my textbook and returned it.
Ngozi: Don’t worry, go and be playing; I
will see what I can do to make sure that Evangelist goes back to the mission
house. They are preparing for him.
This is the
beginning of the problem that sends the young Evangelist out of their house,
because this woman knows that Evangelist
has many vital information about her and her daughter and she thought that if
she didn’t get him out of their house he will one day reveal this secret to her
husband.
Ngozi told lie to
her husband about the technician. She told her husband that the technician
wanted to rape her the day he came to repair the air-condition. So justice
Felix was highly annoyed and promised heaven and earth to deal with him.
Justice Felix
reported the case at the police station and police was sent to go and arrest
the technician man after which he was charged to court.
The technician man who
is Mr. Victor Agbaje by name has been in police custody. After a week, Victor
was charge to court and he was charge for three offences:
1. Raping
2. Deformity
of character
3. Malicious
damage
When the prosecutor
read all the charge against technician, he asked him is he guilty or not;
technician respond that he is not guilty. Then the magistrate that is hearing
the case adjourn the case to 28th of July, which is three weeks
after.
Technician man was remanded in the prison till the day of hearing. The family of
technician has been running helter and scepter to look for money and a lawyer though the offence is not bail able, yet they
need a good lawyer to stand for their son on next adjournment.
Fortunately, they
got a very good lawyer Sanjo by name. The lawyer told the family that he needed
to see Victor the technician with the aids of one member of
the family.
Lawyer Sanjo
visited this man in the prison and Victor the technician man told the lawyer
the whole story, it was there that the lawyer instructed Victor to write an
apology letter to Ngozi, this is the copy of the letter.

Dear Ngozi Aily,
With the pains of
heart, I am writing this letter to you and the purpose is to let you know that
I have learnt my lesson now; I know how powerful you are. Therefore, I am using
this medium to tender my sincere apology for my refusal for continue dating you.
Please, do your best to bail me out of the problem, for I have suffered a lot
among the immates in this prison do not forget the way we started our love and
many covenant we have within ourselves. Dear, I am fully back to you, please
forgive me. If I found favour in your eyes, you can send me little money
through the bearer of this letter, for
the bearer of this letter is my uncle. Thanks for your understanding.

Lawyer Sanjo send
his staff to deliver the letter to Ngozi and pretend to be member of Victor’s
family. That was how the young man came the following day from Sanjo’s office
and asks for Ngozi Aliy. The woman came out and frown her face to young man and
said:
Ngozi: Good morning: what
do you want, and who are you?
Lawyer’s Staff: My name is Favour, uncle Victor’s younger
brother, he sent me to you.
Ngozi: Victor!
Victor!!
Lawyer’s Staff: yes Madam, he said I should give you this
letter
Ngozi: Me letter? I will not take any
letter from him, after he has mess me up.
Lawyer’s Staff: Please Madam, the whole family sent me to
beg you for our brother mistake, he also realized his mistake, please Ma.
After few minutes,
she collected the letter and asked the young man to wait when she was reading the letter. Immediately, she
asked the man to sit on a chair outside while she go in. about thirty minute
later , she came out with the reply, gave it to the young man , said greet your
brother and the whole family. That was how this young man returned to lawyer
Sanjo with the reply Lawyer was very happy when he saw what Ngosi wrote as a
reply:
On adjournment day,
the court was full to the capacity, the lawyer of both party were on their sit.
The prosecutor call the case, the accuse, which is Victor the technician man call
into the box to answer question from Ngozi’s lawyer. After taken an oath with Bible,
Ngozi’s lawyer asks:
Ngozi’s lawyer: Can you tell this honourable court your name?
Victor: My
name is Victor Agbaje
Ngosi’s lawyer: Where do you live?
Victor: I live at No. 28, Close 2, Eleru Allen Avenue , Aleku Benin
Ngosi’s lawyer: What do you do to live?
Victor: My
lord, I am a technician
Ngosi’s lawyer: How do you know Mrs. Aliy?
Victor: I knew Madam for so long before
I started to work as her technician
Ngosi’s lawyer: Tell this honourable court what you Victor Agabje is doing inside the
master bedroom of Chief Aliy with his wife on 10th June, this year.
Victor: I came to their house to
collect the money of the work I did for them but…..
Ngosi’s lawyer: Because they owe you money, that was what
gave you the audacity to enter their bedroom and rape her?
Victor: No my lord I did not either
enter their bedroom nor make any attempt to rape her. At this point the
Victor’s lawyer stood up and bowed to the magistrate and said:
Victor’s lawyer: My lord am so surprised to see my learned
colleague wanted to put words into my client. It is not right to call a cow
brother because we want to eat meat.
Magistrate: It is okay, the lawyer is doing his
job, what do you want to say to all these?
Victor’s lawyer: Thank you my lord, my lord if this court permit,
I like to call Mrs. Ngozi Aliy who is the principal witness in this case.
Magistrate: yes
you are permitted.
Mrs. Ngozi Aliy enters
the witness box and took oath with bible, but it
became obvious that Ngozi was not happy and she is afraid. Victor’s lawyer asks
her questions:
Victor’s lawyer: Are you Mrs. Ngozi Aliy of No. 26, Close 4
Agbujiku, Benin City
Ngozi: Yes
I am
Victor’s lawyer: Mrs. Aliy, can you tell this honourable court
since when have you known Mr. Victor Agbaje
Ngozi: Few
year back
Victor’s lawyer: Can you tell this honourable court with prove
that Victor makes any attempt to rape you.
Ngosi lawyer stood
up to object the question by saying how will Ngozi prove it when it was two of
them that were inside the bedroom. The magistrate pens it down and asks Victor’s
lawyer to move to another question.
Victor’s lawyer: What did Victor do to tarnish your image?
Ngozi: By telling people
Victor’s lawyer: Telling people about what?
Ngozi: About what happen in the room when he
wanted to rape me
Victor’s lawyer: Did he wound you?
Ngozi: My lord, the question of this man is
becoming
too much, and my health may not
allow me to stand
long.
Magistrate: We don’t have any doctor’s report on
your health so, you have to stand to answer the questions.
Ngozi
asked for the question again and lawyer
repeated it
Ngozi: He
did not wound me
Victor’s lawyer: Did you cry on that day, so that people can
come to rescue you?
Ngozi: No
I did not shout
Victor’s lawyer: Did you hear him tell people and when did he
talk about you?
Ngozi: I did not hear him talking,
but somebody told me he is talking to a mechanic beside our house in a week
after that incident.
Victor’s lawyer: How did he damage your air-condition? Did he
break it or repairing it? Is it before the raping or after?
Ngozi: I
can not remember
Victor’s lawyer: Do you report all these case o police
immediately?
Ngozi: My husband call the police
later, but reported it officially after twenty day.
Victor’s lawyer: My lord, it is very clear that Mrs. Aliy is
not telling the true about this case, and she wanted to waste the time of this
unarable court, not that alone my lord, she want to confuse this court in other
to punish innocent.
Ngosi’s lawyer: My lord, my colleague is only working for
the money he has collected, my lord, Mrs. Aliy has been confused by the way my
colleague was questioning her, because this woman is not a small girl, she knows
when somebody make attempt to rape her and when he only comes to work, so I
want to beg this unarable court to give punishment to Mr. Victor Agbaje under
the law; so that other people will
learn lesson from this especially the artisans who will need to enter inside
ones house to do some work.
Magistrate: Having listening to both lawyers, I
want to ask if you people has something to say before I will pronounce my judgment.
At this point, fear
grips the heart of Ngozi and she signal to the magistrate, so he allowed her to
talk and she said:
Ngozi: My lord am not lie to this court,
even he wrote a letter tome to beg me, even when he was in prison, my lord he
admit all these and beg me to remove him from this case. So I am not lie
milord.
Magistrate: Mr. Victor, what do you want to say?
Victor: Thank you my lord, I want this court
and the people sitting here to know something you don’t know before. This woman,
Mrs. Ngozi Aliy is my girlfriend since 25 years ago, even before she marries
and after she married. It was this relationship that makes her to introduce me
to her husband as her technician. It was the day I told her that I am no more
interested in the relationship, that all this problem started, she has used me
many times to collect money from her husband.
My lord the letter I wrote
to her is not to admit any of the allegations, but to continue our suspended
love, because of the pain I am passing through then in prison. My lord, I have
the copy of the reply here with me, if you allow I will bring it, so she is my
girl friend and I am her boyfriend.
At this point,
audience in the court laughed, after that the prosecutor collected the letter
and give it to the judge; this is what she wrote in her reply:

With tear I wrote
you this letter, especially when I remember how we started our love and many ways
you have helped me in the past, but what you should have done in the first that
is what you are doing at last. We shall continue our love as you promised only
if I can change my husband’s heart to
withdraw the charge against you. But if
I can not, do not say it out that you are my boyfriend please, protect my home, I will not leave you,
even if you are jailed.

After the
prosecutor finished reading the letter, the magistrate said is it a boyfriend
or man friend? The audience laughed and prosecutor stops them. Then the judge
ask Ngozi if she has something to say , instead of talking she burst into tear
and started begging that it is the devil that the judge should have mercy on
her. The magistrate told the court that he will pronounce the judgment after
two hour he arise
Outside the court,
audience was standing in group to discuss. Ngozi and her lawyer were discussing.
Ngosi’s lawyer: But Madam, you did not tell me that, you
have been dating the man.
Ngozi: He is my boyfriend, I am sorry
that I did not tell you.
Ngosi’s lawyer: What do you mean by your boy friend, that
man is not boy any more, so he can’t be your boy friend? But man friend that
was what the magistrate was saying in the court.
Ngozi: Any way, I am sorry but please
don’t let my husband hear this.
Ngosi’s lawyer: I will not tell him but he will read it by
himself, because he told me to come with the copy of the proceeding.
After two hour, the
magistrate started to read the judgment, there he counsel Victor not to involve
in a kind of relationship like that, he told him to face his wife and take good
care of his children, and that it has been clear to the court that he Victor
did not guilty of all the charges against him. Therefore he is here by
discharge an acquitted. But to Ngozi, the magistrate said she is one of bad
example of women in our society, she lack human feeling. The magistrate said if
not for because of her lawyer that is begging and the position of her husband,
he would have sentence her to jail without option of fine, but however the
magistrate sentence her to six [6] months in prison or she have to pay
N10,000.00 [Ten thousand naira] only
as a fine to the court. That was how the judge arose and the court closed.
Ngozi remain in the court until her daughter brought Ten thousand [N10,000.00]
for her to pay
later the lawyer
brought the copy of the proceeding to the Ngozi’s husband. Her husband shook
his head and said ‘The law, do you see that I don’t have wife’. That was how
the justice came back home and sent his wife away.
To the readers, it
is good for us to wait till our time of marriage before we go into it, having
boyfriend and girl friend can not help us now because it will interrupt your
education and change your focus in life. Also it will lead-out into family
dryness and loneliness in the future. When your spouse discover, it will set
your marriage ablaze. A word is enough for a wise
