DISCIPLESHIP
INTRODUCTION: THIS
Subject became necessary when Jesus ask his disciples about whom people thought
he was. Matt: 16 13-20 Thank God for Peter who received from the Holy Spirit
that he (Jesus) is the Christ. But not quiet long after, the same Peter was
rebuked by Jesus, when Jesus notice that Satan has spoken through the same
vessel that has just been used by the Holy spirit. Matt 16; 21-25. That is the
kind of polussion we are having in today’s church. James3 10-12 the only solution is discipleship.
According To Matt 16; 24 Jesus said to his disciples
if anyone desires to be My disciples, let him deny himself disregard lose sight
of, and forget himself and his own interest and take up his cross and follow Me…Amp.
There are few things to be noted from this passage e.g.;
1 That one
call him\her self a Christian, and yet the
Lord is still saying ‘’if any one want to
be disciple
2 We also noticed that this matter of being a
disciples an individual or personal
decision.
THE REPROACH OF
EGYPT
From this passage we discovered that though the
children of Israel has been
doing many works for God, fighting many battle for the lord, and yet they were
still under the reproach or curse of Egypt Egypt

Circumcision IN DISCIPLESHIP
These people have been an Israelite, but yet
they cannot enter into their inheritance unless they pass through we call
Circumcision.
Also today, the first step for every one who
want to serve God is to be born into God’s family {John 3:3}. And second step
is the circumcision, this is a perquisite step to enter into discipleship, you
can never be a correct disciple if you jump this vital step.
REASONS FOR NOT CIRCUMCISE [JOS,5:4-5}
1.
Their fathers who has
encountered God had died
2.
They were born on the way
3.
They were born into
disobedience
4.
Their leader is too busy and
there is no much helping hands
5.
Running for the pain of
circumcision

WHO
CAN HANDLE CIRCUMCISION?

A man who had experienced
circumcision
2.
A man with a sharp knives
3.
A man who will not pity
yourself weakness
THE MINISTRY OF
UNCIRCUMCISED (Jud.2:14)
1.
They drag the name of the
Lord in the mud
2.
They sold their birth right
because of food
3.
They have been conquered by
the love of money

THE MINISRTY OF THE PRIESTHOOD
(Heb.5: 1 – 2)
“for every high priest taken from among men is
appointed for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and
sacrifices for sins.
He can have compassion on those who are
ignorant and going astray since he himself is also subject to weakness. (N.K.J.V.)
The first thing to notice here is that before
anybody can be a priest, he must first be born into Levite’s family, also he
must be appointed for the work.
The major works of the priest are:
a.
To maintain the relationship
between men and God.
b.
To offer both gifts and
sacrifices for their sins.
c.
To correct the ignorant that
are going astray.
These are the work that occupied the Old
Testament priest, they spent almost all their life in the tabernacle and the Temple
THE WEAK
AND UNPROFITABLE MINISTRY
[HEB.7: 15 – 18, ROM.
You wonder why God can call a work that
occupies the whole life of a man “weak and unprofitable” But if you study
Heb.7: 18 you will have full understanding.
“For on the one hand there is an
annulling of the former
Commandment Because of its
weakness and unprofitable” [N.K.J.V.]
From this passage we noticed that not only that
God discover weakness, but God even goes to the extent of cancellation of the
priesthood, that is suggesting to us that God will not hesitate to cancel any
ministry, labour and mission if he discover that there is weakness and it no
more bringing profit to him.
WHAT WEAKEN A MAN’S MINISRTY
There is a reason for every thing on earth,
also the ministry of these priests was cancelled not because of the structure
and the garment of these priests, but the reason can be located in their lives
Who has come, not according to the law
of a fleshly commandment, but according to the power of an endless life Heb.
7:16 [N.K.J.V.]
From this verse we noticed that what weaken the
lives of these priest is fleshly commandment.
Anywhere that God discover flesh, God knows that any work that has been
done there can never bring profit to His own kingdom. No matter how beautiful and mightier is a
work, whenever this Mr. Flesh get there, it will weak the work and turn it to
unprofitable. When a man has done a work
for God, and flesh want to destroy it, you will see him claiming the glory “if not me that did
this “ because God know that even if He wait for
twenty years, Mr. Flesh will still come to claim the glory of any work that has
been done in his name, so God will not accept such work from the beginning.
“For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the
flesh….”[Rom.8: 3 N.K.J.V]
Even the law also becomes weak and unprofitable
because the flesh has weakened it.
The ministry of these priests became weak
and unprofit as a result of Mr. Flesh in the lives of these priest.
Many times when the people of God comes
for sacrifice with their animal, these priest ask them to wait, because they
knows that they can not enter into the holy of holiest, because they has one
sin or the other in their own lives also, the priest will need to wait until
someone will come with one animal either as a gift or a tithe to God, so for
many days, some of the people will not return back home to continue their
normal lives.
When
God looks down, He now decided that this ministry needed to be canceled,
because it weak in dealing with sin and also it is unprofitable to the kingdom of God
These priest have tried many ways no to sin, but the human nature in
them will not allow them. “That which is born of flesh
is flesh and that which is born of the spirit”.
It
is the nature that we carry, that makes us to behave the way we have been
behaving. Goat is a goat because of the nature of Goat inside. The nature is
the content inside the container, which is our body.
So, when we talk of been born again we are talking of carrying another
nature. The example of this is the case of NEBUCHADNESSAR who became born
again.
It is the NATURE that bears many names in the
Bible: e.g.
(1)
Mr. flesh (2) Old man (3) Old sinful nature
(4) Human nature (5) Sinful nature (6) Mr.
Darkness
(7)
Adamic Nature (8) Self-life
or sinful self.
WAY OUT OF HUMAN NATURE
{Rom 7:2-3}
From
this passage, we noticed that a woman has no any right to follow another man in
as much as her husband is alive, but the only way for that woman to be free is
by her death or death of her husband.
This husband {our nature} needed to die, but how, because you cannot
kill yourself by yourself. But death is the only solution to the problem of our
old nature. {Rom. 6:7}.
AS MOSES LIFTED UP
THE SERPENT
{Jn 3:9-15; Num.21:6-9}

The solution to the fiery serpent on earth is by looking at that, the
venom of that snake will ooze out, so by that the snake becomes toil.
Today
Jesus has been nail on the cross for us, so as to look when any sin comes on
our way.
Then Jesus said to His
disciples
“if anyone desires
to come
after me, let him
deny
himself, and take up
his cross
and follow me”
Matt16: 24
If you study the word “deny himself”
from many versions of Bible, you will notice many meanings, e.g.
Let him deny himself {K.J.V}
Has to let me lead.
You’re not in the driver’s
Seat: I am. {The message}

The rebellious son that
needed
to be stoned. Deut 21:18-21.
The children of Israel
1.
To lay hold on him.
2.
To drag him out to the
elders.
3.
To testify against him
before the elders.
4.
To hand him over to the
elders.
5.
To go back home and ignore
the cry of the boy.
This boy can be likened to this old nature of
our that needed to be stoned to death.
But the problem of our generation was as we
confess that we’ve handed over the old man, many times we do go back to take
him back, this happen as those boys that were Divinely arranged either in the
market, in the school, in the office, inside the Bus or in the Church to stone
this old nature in us are doing their work of stony.

TAKE UP HIS CROSS
Cross is the symbol of death, therefore to
carry cross means to always keep announcing the death of old man {Rom.
6:6;Gal.2: 20} knowing this:
