CUP AND
BAPTISM

BASIC
MINISTERIAL TRAINNING
INTRODUCTION
The
reason God brought us together for this course is to re-mould our life; God
cannot use a raw life.
Before
God can use any life, He might have upon that life. A carpenter will not use
every plank be brought from sawmill, but he will first scrape some out some,
even not all the plank that enter inside workshop will eventually come out to
the show room, but after he might have worked upon it in the workshop, he will
bring to show room.
Therefore,
God has a big need concerning who can interpret the dream of his heart to His
people.
There
are two people that filled this gap in their days, they stood by the king and
interpret the vision of their king to them (kings). Do you know that God also
who is the King of kings and Lord of lords has a dream, He has a dream to sinners, to those who are in government, to
the church leaders and individual members of t he Church. The biggest need of
God is: “Who will interpret it” many of those mentions above are members of one
local church or the other.
We
are going to study from the lives of these two men of God who interpreted
dreams in their days:
1.
Joseph: Gen.40:1-13; 41:1-37
2.
Daniel: Dan.2:1-49; 4:5-37

JOSEPH
Gen. 40: 1-13. From these Bible verses, we noticed
that the life of this Hebrew by has been reserved for a purpose that is no
obvious to him nor the people around him, not that alone; he has been so
faithful to God in the secret and in the public. This is what qualifies this
boy for further assignment in which heaven has prepared his life for.
Now let us analyze these
scripture:
1.
In vs.5 we discovered that two people had a dream, though the
same night but different dream and different interpretation.
2.
In vs. 6&8 both of them were sad, because there is nobody
to interpret their dreams. Men were sad today because there are no correct
people that can interpret the mind of God for them.
3.
Another thing to learn from this story is that Joseph did not
only interpret good dreams but he even interprets the ones with death penalty.
If we also read GEN. 41: 1-14 we will notice that the
king had a dream and he needed someone to come and interpret it. God also is in
need of someone who will interpret the burden of His heart to His people, but
as wed said above that God will not use untested instrument for His work, that
is to say that there must be a kind of changes in the life of anybody that will
interpret the mind of God. These changes can only come as a result of God’s
encounter in the life of that person.
THE POSITION OF JOSEPH’S LIFE
Before
Joseph can stand before king Pharaoh, though he (Joseph) possesses some
qualifications fit for the work, but yet his own life must be well position in
other to be fit for the work.
The
Pharaoh sent and called Joseph,
And
they brought him quickly out of the
Dungeon;
and he shaved, changed his
Clothing,
and came to Pharaoh.
Gen.41:419
(NKJV)
From
these passages, we noticed about four things that happened to Joseph before he
could stand before Pharaoh. e. g.
1.
They brought him quickly out of the dungeon; which means that
anybody that will stand before the Lord to interpret his mind must not be in
bondage of sin, someone whom heaven has delivered from the power of sin and of
the devil.
2.
And he shaved: This means that the appearance of a prisoner
had been removed, his hair bas been shaved and those who knew him before will
be amazed because devilish hairstyle is no more.
3.
He changes his clothing: You cannot meet the Lord and remain
the same, your mode of dressing must change, if what happened inside was a deep
cut, we must be able to see the scar outside. Before you can stand to interpret
the mind of God, your former mode of dressing must change.
4.
He came to Pharaoh: Joseph did not run to his master nor any
of his friends, not even his parents but to the king who was calling him. You
must available at God’s disposal.

DANIEL
Dan.2:1-49.
Having studded the life of Joseph, it is important to also study the life of
Daniel, because these men of God have something in common: e.g.
A. They were Hebrew: Dan.1:3,
Gen.41:12
B. They were in the land of
captivity. Gen.40:3, Dan.1:2
C. God do visit them through
dreams and visions. Dan.2:19, Gen.37:5
D. Both of them have the
grace to interpret dream. etc. Gen.40:12, Dan.2:24-45
The burden that
God carried in His heart, there is no wise men, astrologers, the magicians and
soothsayers that can interpret it (Dan.2:27) except His own people that have
the qualification set down by heaven.

THE
QUALIFICATION
Anybody that
God will reveal His mind to must possess these qualifications:
1.
He who has determination to be different. Dan.1:8
2.
He who did not show himself to be anything. Dan.2:2
3.
He that can consecrate himself to seek the face of God. Dan.2:17-19
4.
He who can rescue the life of others. Dan.2:24
5.
He that is not running after receiving glory. Dan.2:36, 49
6.
He whose dwelling is not with flesh. Dan.2:11
7.
He that has the Spirit of the Holy God. Dan.4:18
These
are the needs of God, not that there were no people who want to interpret the
dream, but those that can meet the condition set down by God are scarce.
This
is the reason God brought you here in other to work on your life inside His
workshop before He will display you at showroom {on the pulpit}
Will
you make yourself available, will you ready to correct everything He will be
showing you that is wrong in your life? Let
us pray!
THE
CUP

When
the mothers of Zebedee’s sons came to Jesus and make a request about sitting in
the right and left hand of Jesus in His kingdom, it is then that Jesus
introduced this matter.
Jesus
answered and said, “you do not
Know
that you ask. Are you able to
Drink
THE CUP that I am about to drink,
And
be BAPTIZED with the BAPTISM that
I
am baptized with?” Matt.20:22 {NKJV}
The
word CUP was mentioned in 150 times in the Bible, we may not be able to study
it all but there are five of CUPS that are of high significant in the Bible
that we are going to study as the Lord will help us.
1.
Cup of iniquity
2.
Cup of affliction
3.
Cup of the Lord’s fury, terror and judgement
4.
Cup of the Lord’s supper
5.
Cup of blessing

THE CUP OF
INIQUITY
Therefore,
when Jesus was talking to the mother of Zebedee’s sons he was particular about
the first cup.
Jesus
knew that it is Him alone that can drink a kind of cup like that. John.18:11.

THE ORIGIN OF INQUITY
When
God created man, God created him perfectly and man remains perfect until Mr.
iniquity came to the Garden of Eden. Gen:3:1-
WHO IS MR INIQUITY? When Lucifer looses his
position in heaven, he became Satan and devil, because iniquity was found in
him, God destroy the glory that was upon him and he automatically became
darkness. Ezek.28:13-15, Isa.14:12-17
THE
FALL OF MAN
What
the advertise to the woman was independent, that you will need not God again
come and supervise what you are doing,; you will judge it by yourself.
All
what the woman has already been was what the devil was advertising to her, e.g.
1.
Your eyes shall be opened.
2.
You will be like God.
3.
You will know evil and good.
The
Bible said ‘When the woman saw that the tree was good for food’ All other tree
that were there, are they not good for food? Devil did not show her any other
than what God said “you should not eat”

THREE TEMPTATIONS IN MEN’S FALL
1.
Good for food (Lust of the flesh)]
2.
Pleasant to the eyes (Lust of the eyes) 1.JOHN.2:15:17
3.
Desirable to make one wise (Pride of life) LUKE.4:3-12
That
was how human race fall and voluntarily handed over the earth and their lives
unto the devil. 2.Pet.2:19, John.8:34

Therefore,
it was this darkness life that is sending people to hell since that day of
fallen, that is why Jesus comes to take this life of darkness away, but he can
only do that by siphon out the iniquity, which is darkness life.
That
is the cup that Jesus drank on the cross by His death, Ps.116:13;
Matt.26:39-42; John.19:28-30; John.18:11; Heb.2:14, that was the fulfillment of
the vision of John the beloved in Rev.5:1-7 where it was only Jesus that is
able to lose the seal of destruction of the earth. 1Cor.15:54-57.
CUP
OF AFFLICTION
The is the cup
that Jesus was telling the mother of Zebedee’s son that her son’s will later
drink
“you
will indeed drink my cup, and baptized
With
the baptism that I am baptized with: but to
Sit
on my right hand and my left is not mine to
Give,
but it is for those for whom it is prepared
By
my father”. Matt.20:23
Not only the sons of Zebedee that drink the cup, but all the
apostles and early Christians.
In
fact, affliction and persecution were the signs that you have really met the
Lord, because Jesus had said it before his departure on earth. 1John.3:13 &
14.
If
the world hates you, you know that it
Hated
me before it hated you.
If
you were of the world, the world would
Love
it own, yet, because you are not of
The
world, but I chose you out of the world,
Therefore
the world hates you. John.15:18 &19
There is always cup of affliction and persecution on
our ways as we follow the Lord Jesus. If this cup eluded your own life, you
need to cry, because what you hold is not a genuine one. 1Pet.2:21-23,
1Thess.2:1-3; Phil.1:28- 29; James.1:2 & 3
CUP OF THE LORD’S
FURY
TERROR AND JUDGEMENT
This
is a cup of discipline, punishment and chastisement that God gives to all
offenders and sinners.
What
is sin?
Sin is the transgression of law and every
transgression shall receive its punishment. Is.51:17-23; Jer.49:12, Rev.14:10.
CITIES
THAT DRANK THE CUP
1.
Sodom & Gomorrah (Gen.19L24-25)
2.
Babylon (Rev.18:1-8)
3.
Egypt (Exodus.12:29-30)
4.
Samaria (2.Kings17:1-8)
5.
Jerusalem (Amos.2:4-5; 2.Chro.36:1)
Jerusalem (Amos.2:4-5; 2.Chro.36:1)
INDIVIDUAL

1.

CUP
OF THE LORD’S SUPPER
This is the cup
the Lord instituted when He was about to go to the cross. Matt.26:26-28,
1.Cor.10:21, 1.Cor.11:23-26. Those that
cannot be partaker of if:
1. Those that are yet to give their life to
Jesus Christ.
2. Those that are yet to be baptized inside
water
3. Malice Keeper
4. Polygamy and Bigamy
5. Those who are yet to make restitution of
their wrong way
CUP OF BLESSING

This is a cup of fulfillment of promise and cup of
prosperity. Ps.23:5; Ps.16:5. All believers must know this that there cannot be
this cup unless you have first of all drank from the others above.
BAPTISM
INTRODUCTION
Baptism
is one of the step that makes one to qualify for heaven, according to Mk.16:16
which says, “Whoever believes and is
baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned”,
from the above quotation, we noticed that believe is the first step and to be
baptized is the second, but many people has misarrange this vital order,
therefore, if you have is any way mixed it up, it is a clear indication that
you are not yet qualify for heaven until you follow the divine arrangement.
BELIEVES AND SAVED
These
two looks confused because physically, they cannot marry each other but
spiritually they are like bolt and knot, therefore they complement each other,
“Believer and be saved” for this reason we are going to look at each of them
briefly.
After you might have believed and got saved, the next
thing is what we can call “Baptism”.
BAPTISM
The
word baptism is a Greek word and it is been called Baptizo, which means to bury
something inside another thing, so that is can never be seen again. E.g. water,
Book, House, etc.
WHY BAPTISM?
1.
It is the consummation or perfection of our salvation
(Mk.16:16)
2.
It is the commandment of Jesus (Matt.28:19)
3.
It is of a good conscience toward God (1.Pet.3:2)

BAD
EXAMPLE OF BAPTISM
1.
Sign of the cross on the forehead
2.
Sprinkling water upon the person
3.
Running under white or Red clothes
4.
Dipping someone into swimming pool behind the church
5.
Running under fresh palm leaves.

CORRECT
BAPTISM
The
correct way of doing baptism is the baptism that we was and has its root in the
Bible and that is the one in the river and by immersion.
1.
John baptize people at the river (John.3:22-24; Mk.1:4-5)
2.
Jesus came to be baptized at river Jordan (Mk.1:9-10)
3.
Ethiopian Eunuch was baptized in the river (Acts.8:35-39).
