CHARISMATIC MINISTRY
INTRODUCTION
Charismatic Ministry deals with the spiritual grace
that capacitate devotion and inspire the believers to productively minister to
one another. it is for the fulfilling of specific tasks but the manifestation
of the spirit is given to every man to profit withal- 1Cor 12:9. the term
Charismatic Ministry refers to spiritual gift or ministry that is given to the
church through individuals.
IMPORTANCE OF SPIRITUAL
GIFTS (EPH 4:12)
The Bible spelt out the purpose for which the
Lord has given the gift to His Church.
1. For the perfecting of the saints.
2. For the Work of the Ministry.
3. For the edifying of the body of Christ. Lev
14:5, 12, 26
4. To profit withal-1Cor. 12:7
5. For exhortation edification and comfort
-1Cor. 14:3
CLASSES OF
SPIRITUAL GIFTS - 1COR 12:17-14
The
nine gift mention in the Bible were divided into groups according to their
nature and manifestation .
A.
Revelational Gifts
B.
Inspirational Gifts
C.
Power Gifts.
A.
REVELATIONAL GIFTS: These are
the gifts that reveal mysteries. We have three different gifts in this group.
(a) Wisdom: The gift of wisdom is the special ability that God
gives certain members of the body
of Christ to know the mind of the Holy Spirit in such a way as to receive
insight into
how given knowledge may best be applied to specific needs arising in the body of Christ. 1 Cor. 2:1-13, 1 Cor. 12:8, Acts.
6:3,10 James 1:5-6 11Peter 3:15.
(b) Knowledge: The gift of knowledge is the Holy Spirit enablement upon certain of
the believers to discover, accumulate, analyse
and clarify information and ideas which are pertinent to the growth and well being of
the body of Christ. 1 Cor. 2:14, 1 Cor. 12:8,
Acts. 5:1-11, Col. 2:2, 3, 11Cor. 11:6.
(c) Discerning of spirit: The gift of
discerning of spirits is the special grace given to some members, the body of Christ to know with
unprobeable certainty that certain behaviour purported to be of God is in
reality Divine, human or satanic. 1Cor. 12:10,
Acts. 5:1-11, Acts. 16:16-18, 1 Jn. 4:1-6,
Matt. 16:21-23.
B.
INSPIRATIONAL GIFTS: There are
the gifts that we call Gifts of utterance.
a. Divers Kind of Tongues: This is the ability given to certain members of the
body of Christ
(1) To speak to God in a language they have never learned and/or (2) To
receive and communicate an immediate message
of God to his people through divinely anointed utterance in a language
they have never learned.
b. Interpretation: The interpretation of
tongues is the grace that God gives to some of the members of the body of Christ to make
known in the VERNACULAR the message of one who speaks in tongue. 1Cor. 12:10-30,
1Cor. 14:13; 26-28.
c. Gift Of Prophecy: The gift of prophecy
is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the body of Christ to receive
and communicate an immediate message of God to his people through a divinely-
anointed utterance. 1Cor. 12:10, 28, Eph. 4:11, Rom. 12:6, Lk.
9:26, Acts. 15:32, Acts. 21:9-11.
C.
POWER OF GIFTS: These are also
called gifts that do:
a. Gifts of Faith: The gift of faith is
the enabling grace given to some members of the
body of Christ to discern with
extraordinary confidence the will and purposes of God for his work. 1Cor. 12:9, Acts. 11:22-24,
27:21-25, Heb 11, Rom. 4:18-21.
b. Gift of Healing: The gift of healing is the special ability that God
gives to certain members of the body of Christ to serve as
human intermediaries through who it pleases God to cure illness and restore
health apart from the use of natural means. 1Cor. 12:9, 28, Acts 3:1-10; 5:12-16;
9:32-35; 28:7-10.
c. Gift of Miracles: The gift of miracles is the ability of the Holy
Spirit given to certain members of the body of Christ to serve as
human intermediaries through whom it pleases God to perform powerful acts that
are perceived by observers to have altered
the ordinary course of nature. 1Cor 12:10,
28, Acts 9:36-42, 19:11-20, 20:7-12, Rom 15:18-19, 11Cor 12:12.
OTHER GIFTS MENTIONED IN THE BIBLE
There are other gifts mentioned in the
other passages of the Bible apart from the ones mentioned 1Cor 12:7-14. They
are discovered to be given to some members of the body of Christ, despite the
fact that some of them may be treated as being common to all members of the
body of Christ.
a. EXHORTATION: The gift of exhortation
is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the body of Christ to minister
words of comfort, consolation, encouragement and counsel to other members
of the body such in a way that they feel helped and healed. Rom 12:8, 1Tim
4:13, Heb 10:25, Acts 14:22.
b. LEADERSHIP: This gift to set goals in accordance with God`s
purpose for the future and to communicate these goals to other in
such a way that they voluntarily and harmoniously work together to accomplish
those goals for the glory of God. 1Tim 5:17, Acts 7:10; 15:7-11, Rom 12:8, Heb
13:17, Lk 9:51.
c. ADMINISTRATION: This is a special
ability given to some believers to understand clearly the immediate and long-range goals
of a particular unit of the body of Christ and devise and execute effective plans for
the accomplishment of those goals. 1Cor 12:28, Acts 6:1-7, 27:11, Lk 14:28-30.
d. SERVICE: Is the ability of God in some
believers to identify the unmet needs involved in a task related to God`s work and to
make use of available resources to meet those needs and help accomplish the desired
results. 11Tim 1:16, 18, Rom 12:7, Acts 6:1-7, Titus 3:4, Gal 6:2, 10.
e.
MARTYDOM: Is the ability in some believers to joyfully and
victoriously undergo suffering for the faith even to the point
of death to bring out the glory of God. 1Cor 13:3, Acts 5:27-41, Acts 7:54-60; 12:1-5,
11Cor 11:21-30; 12:9-10.
f. CELIBACY: Is the ability to remains single and enjoy it, to be
unmarried and not suffer undue
sexual temptations. 1Cor 7:7-8, Matt 19:10-12.
g. HOSPITALITY: Is the grace of the Holy Spirit upon some believers
to provide an open house and a warm welcome to those in need
of food and lodging. 1Peter 4:9, Rom 12:9-13; 16:23, Acts 16:14,15, Heb 13:1-2.
h. MERCY: Is the grace of the Holy
Spirit to some believers to feel genuine sympathy and compassion for individuals (both
Christian and non Christian who suffer distress physical, mental or emotional) problems,
and to translate that compassion into cheerfully done deeds which reflect.
Christ`s love and alleviate the suffering. Rom 12:8, Mk 9:41, Acts 16:33-34, Lk 10:33-35,
Mt 20:29-34; 25:34-40, Acts 11:28-30.
I. HELPS: Is the grace of the Holy Spirit
to some believers to invest the talents they have in the life and
ministry of other members of the body thus enabling others to increase the effectiveness of their own
spiritual gifts - 1Cor 12:28, Rom 16:1-2, Acts 9:36, Lk 8:2-3 with Mk 15:40-41.
j. GIVING: The special ability of the Holy Spirit to some
members to contribute their material resources to the work of the Lord
with liberality and cheerfulness. Rom 12:8, 11Cor 8:1-7; 9:2-8, Mk 12:41-44.
RELEVANCE OF SPIRITUAL GIFTS TO DELIVERANCE MINISTERS
Anyone that is called of God will be equipped by God
to be able to stand in the capacity he has been called to stand. We can desire
spiritual gifts earnestly in our prayers (1Cor 12:31) but it is the spirit that
gives as He discovers we need them....................the spirit decides what to give
each person- 1Cor 12:11b (ETR). Yet, the gifts of the spirit is
relevant to the deliverance ministry for the following reasons.
a. It
helps in diagnosis and comfort for the victim on the solution of God to his/her
case.
b. It
illuminates the heart and the way of the minister to the root, the
manifestation and the remedy of the deliverance victim.
c. It makes deliverance ministration easy and
perfect.
d. It
activates the forces of God against the forces of darkness.
e. It
enables the minister to help the victim from his beyond physical.
